Ah Prague, with its pretty architecture, glorious Vltava river, streets, history and lively nights– definitely a great city to visit if you’re in Europe. While the food scene offered some interesting tastes including some really good duck, sausages, and soups, how were the pistachios in Kafka’s city? Let’s find out !

Pistachios from Kathmandu, Nepal

Hi pistachio fans, This is a quick review of some pistachios we received as a gift from a traveler through Nepal ! These pistachios are medium to large and the white color of the shell doesn’t look too reassuring as it remind us of some bad pistachios reviewed from Vietnam and Myanmar. As a disclaimer, these have been in a bag for many months and traveled quite a lot through many countries, so optimal freshness and humidity level is not guaranteed. Unshelled, these look pretty bad as some have some spider a webby white substance, a dry appearance and some have weird dark colors. We were expecting a mute crack when unshelling these as it often the case of some […]

Mexican pistachios in the beaches of Oaxaca

Hi Pistachio fans, After a loop around the world from east to west which brought you reviews of delicious pistachios from places like Oman and Bosnia Herzegovina, and other not so delicious ones from places such as Vietnam and Myanmar,  we find ourselves back in Mexico for a bit of beach time and of course trying out and reviewing pistachios for you.  We already reviewed some pistachios from Oaxaca state about a year ago near the beautiful beach of Zipolite, and today we bring you a small review of some supermarket pistachios near the surfing town of Puerto Escondido. Context Puerto escondido is a city in the coast of Oaxaca state surrounded by smaller communes and beaches such as Mazunte, Zipolite and la […]

Pistachios in Lithuania

Hi pistachio fans, Today we will talk about some pistachios found during a trip to Lithuania to try to make up to someone I cared about. While explanations and apologies were (deservedly)  not accepted, it was a real pleasure to briefly visit the beautiful old city of Vilnius, try some local soups and dishes such as Cepelinai, or potato dumplings stuffed with meat and beetroot soup and relax in a warm café drinking cappuccino before strolling on the icy medieval streets of old Vilnius.   The pistachios in question are these. A nicely packaged 150 g brown bag with a picture of two good looking pistachios on the front. In the back, ingredients are listed, number of calorie and what we guess is a […]

With a large choice of roasted nuts of all kinds. The nuts were nicely organized and labeled, the service was good, and the choice incredible. From party peanuts with sour cream, roasted sunflower seeds and almonds, and of course, the reason we are here, beautiful roasted salted pistachios.

Trying out pistachios in Bosnia Herzegovina !

After trying some really good pistachios from Romania, we bring to you today a pistachio review from the beautiful country of Bosnia Herzegovina. After crossing the border from Serbia, the land changed into beautiful lakes and forests and mountains leading us to the capital of Sarajevo. Here,  you can enjoy some delicious Burek stuffed with ground beef, visit the beautiful medieval city of Mostar, have some coffee and pistachio baklava, and wander around the streets to get a feel of the the fascinating cultural melting pot of this beautiful and fascinating country. While walking around the old town of Sarajevo, we noticed a shop called “TR. BUTIK BADEM” that seemed quite popular. It had a column on the side layered with different […]

Review: Best Nuts Pistachios from Romania !

For our first review of European pistachios ever, we bring you a taste test of a small bag of pistachios purchased from a supermarket in downtown Bucharest Romania and tested on the same train we took from Bucharest to Bulgaria in which we reviewed some pistachios from Myanmar. Usually when something is self proclaimed “Best” or any similar adjectives in its name it’s usually not a good sign. It’s like hotels that call themselves Lux or Quality.. but let’s give this small bad a chance shall we? Presentation A small 50g bag of roasted pistachios. Ingredients contain 1% iodised salt, and may contain gluten. Some of the companies listed in the bag are “BEST NUTS SRL”, bestnuts.ro, OHONOS SNACK A.B.E. ohonos.gr and […]

Pistachio review: Sahong pistachios from Myanmar

Myanmar was a very interesting place to visit. From beautiful golden temples such as the shwedagon in Yangon, to the ancient city of Bagan to trekking around Hsipaw, this country has a lot to offer especially in terms of culture and adventure. Today, we bring you a review of pistachios purchased from Yangon and snacked on during a train ride from Bucharest Romania, to Sofia Bulgaria. Presentation This bag of pistachios which we purchased from a small shop in the old town of Yangon is very flashy, colorful and inviting ! With its sparkly colors, happy pistachio cartoon character, and well sealed packaging,  it makes us curious if the contents match. On the package, we can see some chinese text, some japanese text […]
